I am trying something new here… I’ve decided to share my plans for our summer weekends. My oldest daughter is going to be a senior in highschool next year, and I want to be super intentional about how we spend our last highschool summer with her.
My Summer Weekending series is going to be my way of kicking off our summer weekends, and to make sure we ENJOY and love each weekend… even if we don’t have anything “special” going on!
This will be where you and I can catch up on what we’ve done during the week and what we’ve planned for the weekends. This summer I want to make every weekend special, and I want to bring you right along with me!
This weekend the girls and I are going to a softball tournament, it is only an hour away, but because of the timing of the games we will be staying overnight. This mini road trip should be a fun weekend with a team picnic and family style evening dinner with the team, so I am figuring out my contibution to the meals! And, even though the girls and I will be staying in your basic budget Quality Inn I am bringing some face masks, nail polish and other treats for a relaxing evening in our room after a long day at the ballpark.
All the rice krispy treats! We have been on a rice krispy treat making kick lately, they are such a fun and easy summer treat. This is my favorite recipe for rice krispy treats.
Most of the books I mentioned in my Light and Fun Summer Reading list have already arrived (from the UK!). And I have just started Daisy’s Vintage Cornish Camper Van by Ali McNamara. I haven’t read enough to give you my thoughts, but for the summer I wanted something fluffier and beachier and happier to read, and I think this book will fit the bill. Anyway – what are you reading this week!
Pretty feminine stationery! I have been interested in building a stash of cards and stationary to use throughout the year for a while, but now that I have been more intentional about sending heartfelt notes via snail mail, I’d really like some quality supplies. In the digital age, handwritten notes are so special, it’s really worth it to plan ahead and have a supply of nice stationery available.
I have been a huge Erin Condren Life Planner fan girl for years, but I didn’t love how it was just turning into random lists of things to do everyday. I recently ordered a Panda Planner, and so far, I really like that the Panda Planner focuses on looking back as well as forward. By reviewing each day and week, I’m learning to find patterns in my habits (both good and bad) and get a better sense of areas I am doing well in and where I could use a little more discipline. I will still use my Erin Condren Life Planner to keep track of appointments and sports schedules, but the Panda Planner does a better job on helping me focus my daily lists on my priorities.
Summer Vacation! Here in Upstate New York our kids start summer vacation late compared to the rest of the country, and we were definitely ready for a break, in both the weather and the school year daily routine.
What are your plans for the weekend? Whatever you have going on, I hope you have a great weekend!
